In
the spring of 2005 while surfing the web I discovered the
website of an Iris grower in Northern California, I was fascinated
with the beauty of the flowers pictured on the site. I
ordered a selection of 10 rhizomes to plant in my garden.
My gardener planted them in September and daily I checked their
progress, in February the first stalk appeared it seemed like
forever, but in March it finally bloomed. It was the
beautiful apricot iris, Island Sunset. On Easter Sunday
the second Iris bloomed, a Lucille Richardson. More stalks
are appearing so many more blooms to follow. I have ordered
30 more for next year, Torino, my gardener, will have a busy
summer clearing and preparing for the fall planting of the new
Iris.
