Who Is Rescue, What Do We Do and Why Do We Do It?

The English Springer Spaniel Rescue Coalition is a network of independent English Springer Spaniel rescue organizations joined together to monitor and coordinate rescue activities through out the United States and Canada.  Coalition members include Mid-Atlantic ESS Rescue, Golden Gate ESS Rescue, Chatahoochee ESS Club of Greater Atlanta, Inc., Willamette Valley ESS Assn., New England ESS Rescue and English Springer Rescue America, Inc., which covers areas not specifically handled by one of the aforementioned organizations.

English Springer Rescue America, Inc. (ESRA), is a federally recognized 501c3 Charitable Organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of abused, abandoned and/or unwanted English Springer Spaniels.

Requests for assistance are received from animal shelters, relinquishing owners, veterinarians, boarding kennels, good Samaritans and other rescue organizations.  Dogs are extensively temperament evaluated, vetted and cared for while a suitable home is found.  Adopting homes are carefully screened including an Adoption Questionnaire, veterinary reference check, home check and oral interview.

If you’ve ever experienced wet Springer kisses on your face in the morning or come home to passionate “woo woo’s” and butt wiggles the way only a Springer can do them, the reason why we rescue is simple.  It is our DUTY as breeders, fanciers, field trailers, exhibitors and rescuers to protect our breed.
